Dev Update: Hall Effect Analog Sticks

Hello, Gamers!

We’ve got some exciting news to share with you all. Over the past few months, we’ve been listening closely to your feedback and working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring you the features you’ve been asking for. Today, we are thrilled to announce that the Proteus Controller now includes Hall Effect analog sticks in the analog cubes!

Why Hall Effect Analog Sticks?

For those who might not be familiar, Hall Effect analog sticks use magnetic sensors instead of traditional potentiometers. This results in several significant benefits:

  1. Enhanced Durability: Hall Effect sensors reduce physical wear and tear, making the sticks last longer.
  2. Improved Precision: These sensors provide more accurate and consistent input, giving you better control in your games.
  3. Reduced Drift: One of the most common issues with traditional sticks, stick drift, is significantly minimized.

Your feedback has been instrumental in guiding us toward this upgrade, and we’re excited to finally bring it to you.

The Journey So Far

Implementing Hall Effect technology has been a challenging yet rewarding process. Our small, dedicated team has spent countless hours researching, designing, and testing to ensure we deliver the best possible experience. We believe these new analog sticks will make a substantial difference in your gaming, providing a smoother and more reliable control experience.

This process includes sourcing components, testing components with our current prototypes and then adjusting the firmware we have developed to integrate Hall Effect into our current system. We also have a unique challenge as given the modularity, and the magnetic components of the Proteus Controller, we have to adjust for the fact that the magnetic peripherals could be interacting with the hall effect analog sticks. We also have hall effect triggers, which can be placed anywhere in the configuration, so we had to get smart with how we managed that. But it was definitely a fun and worth while challenge.

What's Next? Mini Analog Sticks

While we’ve made significant strides with the analog sticks in the Analog Cubes, we’re still hard at work on the mini analog sticks. These are a little more complex as the mini analog stick peripherals we have are pretty custom, but we are hopeful we can get them working too! We know many of you are eager for updates on this front, and we promise to keep you informed as we make progress. Our goal is to ensure that the mini analog sticks meet the same high standards as their larger counterparts, and we appreciate your patience as we continue development.

Thank You for Your Support

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing community. Your support, feedback, and enthusiasm drive us to keep improving and innovating. We’re committed to making the Proteus Controller the best it can be, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, happy gaming!

Best,

The Proteus Controller Team
